Our Aggressive Growth Portfolio's 0.60% growth (the blue line) in 15, while less than the S&P 500's gain of 3.7%, comes with a drawdown ten times smaller than the S&P 500 (the red line)!
RISK: Less than the S&P 500
Our lower risk portfolios proved themselves again in the first half of October by having a drawdown TEN TIMES SMALLER than the S&P 500's drawdown was -3.0%. "Drawdown" is the maximum decrease for the period. Smaller drawdown is the measure of the manager's ability to cut investment risk.

So far this year, we have adjusted our portfolios 34 times, 25 of which have resulted a portfolio gain, maintaining our characteristically top performance. Of the total changes this year, 73.5% have been profitable. Below is a recap of the changes we made this period to protect the accounts under our Aggressive Growth portfolio.

Our Barometer
As we've said in the past, we actively manage our portfolios to avoid sustained losses and to exceed the performance of the market indexes.
Beginning in the last part of September, a number of our market indicators began to suggest a possible market downturn; others did not confirm this downturn. In this situation, we moved to a market neutral position to avoid potential market losses. Even in our neutral position, our Aggressive Growth portfolio still added a small .60% gain.
In our last report we said that "the market appears to be flattening; it may be preparing to fall in value as it did during the first quarter of this year." If and when the market does turn down, we will be working to avoid sustained portfolio losses, and investing to protect and grow our client's accounts as much as possible.
