Fund Summary The investment seeks current income and capital appreciation. The fund invests primarily in a diversified portfolio of equity securities which include common and preferred stock as well as convertible bonds. It invests at least 80% of total assets in equity securities that pay interest or dividends, and the remaining 20% in non-dividend-paying equity securities, fixed-income securities and money-market instruments.

Todd Ahlsten is the Chief Investment Officer and a portfolio manager Parnassus Investments. Mr Ahlsten began his career at Parnassus Investments in 1994 as a research analyst. He was subsequently promoted to Director of Research in 1998 and in 2001 became Portfolio Manager for the Parnassus Equity Income Fund. Mr Alsten became Chief Investment Officer in 2008.
