Fund Summary The investment seeks to maximize total return, consisting of capital appreciation and current income. The fund normally invests at least 80% of assets in fix-income securities of place country-region U.S. and foreign issuers rated investment grade or the unrated equivalent, which include bonds, debentures, notes, mortgage- and asset-backed securities, municipal obligations, warrants, convertibles and money market instruments. The fund's duration typically ranges between three and eight years. It may also engage in short-selling and interest-rate swaps.
Fund Management Kent Wosepka, Lead Manager since 31-Jan-05 Wosepka has been employed by Dreyfus as a portfolio manager since July 2002. He is also a vice president at Standish Mellon, where he has been employed since 1998. Prior to joining Standish Mellon, Wosepka was employed by Rowe Price- Fleming International, Inc. and Jeffrey, Slocum & Associates.
